Bavand Behpoor: This work of Afsarian was mesmerizing but stood out of the rest of the exhibition. The absence of the viewer in the painting made the work (more than other works in the exhibition) conceptual; a concept that viewers could not find. Installed in front of another painting of another mirror it added to the overall conceptual ambiguity (bringing to mind this line by Shamloo, ‘I place a mirror in front of yours’ together with other nonsense!) Yet, the work was also different from another point of view: this is not a mirror that everybody has in his house. It is special.
