We never saw war. They didn’t show it to us. The eight years of Sacred Defense was seen through the eyes of The Story of Victory, a famous documentary television series, and martyrdom.

The politics of representation of Iranian social history has an omniscient narrator who is with us from the time of war. He is a lyrical storyteller always observant and careful so that our dreams do not end up being very dark.

For us nothing divides into pre- and postwar. Here, in our unique  geography there is a Sacred Defense which has no before or after: it exists, it is present.

No image of war permeated into the society; there were only products of war. I always think the void of the influence of the longest war of the century has remained void. And cannot be filled. It is as if filling voids has an expiry date. When expired, well, they are expired.
