Whenever there is something called mainstream art, there is also something called marginal art. It is a simple equation and as soon as an artist tries to become a part of the mainstream or to avoid it, he creates other equations as well.

The mainstream is the dominant body unless the minority proves the opposite. In art, minorities always try to prove something, protesting and denying the mainstream…

Artists protest. Against a system, against a place where names, expressions and sentences ,are dictated; where the importance of words is eliminated, where naming things substitute expression, where the person expressing is more important than expression itself.

I was saying that an artist protests… It is a good thing that he protests against the common sentimentalism, mocks commodification, frowns upon names and their glamour. Yet, he might also fall in the very same trap.
