The variety of Hadi Alijani’s subjects are acceptable only if one considers his spontaneity and unconscious way of working. Usually–not always–such approach becomes mannered when it takes a rational form or consciousness enters it. Alijani resembles a drunk who performs all sorts of careless actions and it is still acceptable. Yet as soon as he is sober if he performs the same actions he will appear mannered. It is as if the vices of his actions were covered by drunkenness and ‘consciousness’ underlines it. Alijani’s attitude very much reminds of this painting by him. The unbound actions of these people in the party is only justified by Alijani’s ebriety and that of the guests! See a detail of the work here.
