These days, you see performances more often particularly at Azad Art Gallery. It seems performance are becoming a fixed part of the gallery programmes which is pleasing in itself. In his performance called ‘Mefenamic Acid’ last Thursday Navid Jahanbakhsh set four people on four different corners of the gallery. On one spot, this long-haired young man was lying down in his bed listening to Hard Rock music so angrily that he would not even turn his head to look back at us. His military uniform and boots in one corner of his ‘room’ and also some posters above his head could be seen. Everything was drastically theatrical. I think it was simply a performance not performance art. That’s that.
