In this series of her works, Samira Rahbani paints on large frames framing nothing but the wall they are hanging on. Anybody who has once wondered what ‘Truth in Painting’ is talking about will instantly think of Derrida’s book. These works are as much applicable to the situation of contemporary art in general as to the situation of art scene in Tehran: we have witnessed how trivia and surrounding issues are regarded more important than the text itself.
