This photo and the other photos of the exhibition titled A Stranger Roams In Me, reflect my own concern: identity. The theme of these artworks by Rima Eslam Maslak is so general that everybody–consciously or unconsciously–are engaged with it. Yet, such an interesting and comprehensive theme could have been handled more professionally.

The technical concept of integrating two different media (photography and video) in one frame, along with the images repeated in the videos, made me tell myself, ‘the concept is good. The technique might be appealing, yet it is commonplace. Repetition can be nice when what is repeated is also “nice”. Eslam Maslak has exposed all her ideas in the first artwork. There was no need to see the others. The next artworks had nothing new to say formally, technically or conceptually.’
